I have been wanting to go to the Cloisters for a long time. Luckily, my friend Paige did too on her trip to New York. So off we set on Saturday on a truly gorgeous day.
The Cloisters are part of the Metropolitan Museum of Art "devoted to the art and architecture of medieval Europe." The building and its cloistered gardens are located in Fort Tryon Park in Norther Manhattan. It is sometimes bizarre what amazing things are so close to the city (actually in the city).
Paige showed up with New York gear in hand, so I wore it. I tried to look as much like a tourist as possible.
We took off on the subway, got off on 190th street and walked the gardens. I took my Liberty hat off. But not before I got a coffee at Starbucks and they called "Liberty!" when it was ready at the bar.
So we arrived at the gardens and it was beautiful.
Through the gardens and on the grounds.
We saw some cute old men on a bench.
We needed our hiking shoes.

Then up to the building

No flash photography inside, so I didn't get to take any pictures of all cool stuff inside. The tapestries were amazing. Huge. I can't imagine how long they took to make.
We had a fabulous time. It might be time to get a tour guide to New York!
