Today I almost got hit by a taxi (sorry, Mom). I don't like drama, but it was close. So close I scared two men walking behind me. It was 6:30 a.m. and I was meeting someone for a run in Central Park. I was walking through Lincoln Square where there are several streets which intersect. I always cross at the crosswalks even though you have to walk what seems like backward to get to where you want to go. This morning, I didn't use the crosswalks. I was looking the other way down one street and did not realize I needed to be looking in another direction as well.
The men behind me were on their way to see the Regis and Kelly show. They asked me where the Regis and Kathie Lee show was. I loved that they called it Regis and Kathie Lee. I still call it that, too. They asked me where it was after gasping and telling me what they saw was very scary -- a way too close call.
My heart was pounding. It was one of those split second moments. I must tell you, the first thought in my head, literally was, "I am glad I quit my job." I was a bit surprised myself at my first thought. But in a split second, I was grateful I quit my job and am pursuing what I want out of life.
