Changes

A dear friend is in town visiting me and our other wonderful friend.  The three of us (and another who is out of town this weekend) became friends in Boston.  We have been friends for over fifteen years.  It has been an amazing, warm, generous friendship.  I could not be luckier.

It was a terrific day, catching up.  The last time we saw each other was in November.  It has been longer than any of us would have wanted, but we did not skip a beat getting right down to filling in one another on each other's lives.

What was apparent from our conversation is that change happens.  Change is life.  It happens to all of us.    Sometimes change is outward.  Sometimes it is a slow process.  Sometimes it hits us blindside.  It can be  for the good and it can be for the not so good.  Sometimes, that all depends on how we look at it.

Sometimes change is inward.  It can also be a slow process and/or hit us blindside.  It can be frightening.  It can be uncomfortable.  It can be liberating.

Change is the one constant thing in life.  How we deal with it -- therein lies the rub.
