The people are very nice here and I have become a big fan of the Lady Bird Hike Trail. It's a trail around the lake where a lot of people run, walk, ride their bikes along with their kids and dogs. I get up in the morning, have my coffee, then head out there before it gets too hot. Although, the past two days have been cloudy and in the 70's in the morning. The serious bikers must be elsewhere because they are not chastising the walkers like they do in Central Park. But we have to share in New York because there is not a lot of space.
I was sitting outside at Starbucks writing this blog (until it started raining) and there is a gigantic Whole Foods across the street. I mean gigantic. This man was walking across the street from me in front of the Whole Foods carrying a large bouquet of flowers he must have just purchased from the store. He sees a man ride by on his bike and shouts out "hi, Mike, brother! Good to see ya!" Raises his hand. He is very animated when he says hello. I mean the guy just looks happy. Smiling with his flowers. It is nice to be in someone's presence who is happy. Even if they are across the street. It's weird how they brighten your day and you don't even need to interact with them.
I wondered if the flowers were for his mother for Mother's Day. Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers out there.
It is a day not only to wish Mothers a happy day, but for me, a day to reflect on what an incredible mother I have. She has done for me what no other person in the world would ever do. I have to count my blessings in life, and she is at the top of the list.
